Mevagissey Shanty - Joint Fundraiser

Join the Mevagissey Shanty Festival at Wheal Martyn for our annual fundraising concert!

The Block House Chainers from Fowey and The DerryAirs from Downderry will be performing traditional and original shanties and folk songs inspired by Cornwall and our rich mining and maritime heritage.

Further details: Bar open on the day and pre-booked pasties are available at point of booking. Proceeds raised from the event will be split equally between Mevagissey Shanty Festival and Wheal Martyn Trust (Charity no. 1001838).

Time: Doors open at 6.15pm, performance starts at 7.00pm

Price: £14.00 per person (age 12 and under free)

Lemonaires Cornish Music Night

We are The Lemonaires - Men of Cornwall and we are based in Mylor Bridge. We sing of Cornwall, fishing, farming and mining with the vigour you would expect from proud Celtic men.
Redruth Town Band

As part of our celebrations and exhibition of the centenary of the Bugle Band Contest we are delighted to have Redruth Town Band doing a free performance on our café terrace. Redruth Town Band is one of Cornwall’s oldest brass bands, with roots dating back over 200 years and references to musicians in the town as early as 1828.

Our museum

China clay mining has shaped the landscape, lives of people and economy of mid-Cornwall for over 250 years. It is Cornwall’s largest mining industry. A fully Accredited Museum, we are based within two Victorian china clay works, now a Scheduled Ancient Monument. We tell the story of this fascinating industry and the people who worked and lived in the shadows of Cornwall’s iconic ‘white pyramids’.
